Corporate travel to delightful Bologna and the Eternal City, Rome
During the trip, we visited the cities Bologna and Rome. Bologna is the seventh most populous city in Italy and is an important connection between the north and the south. Rome is the capital city and has everything you need for successful corporate travel
Bologna as a corporate travel destination
In two hours, we flew from Dusseldorf to Bologna. The Dusseldorf airport is quiet and pleasant, the airport in Bologna is smaller and more compact. You get through baggage claim in no time and quickly find yourself outside. UNA Hotels has two locations in Bologna: one in the city centre and the other in the trade fair district. The hotel in the trade fair district was recently renovated and caters primarily to corporate travellers. It is a five-minute walk from the Bologna stock exchange, the second-largest stock exchange in Italy and among the top twenty in Europe.
Bologna is the city of fine food, specifically ham and chocolate, and the city of speed. Sports car manufacturers Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Ducati all have factories within an hour's drive of Bologna. The Ferrari location can also be booked for events, parties and receptions and visitors can even drive their famous cars.
The Bologna railway station connects the north to the south. You can travel to Rome in two hours, Milan in one hour and Florence in 45 minutes.
Exploring Rome by golf cart
We leave Bologna and take a 40-minute Alitalia flight to Rome. The history in this Eternal City is palpable. There are so many things to do and see in Rome, I can't fit it all into this blog post. The best way to explore this city as a corporate traveller is to rent an electric golf cart from Rome Tours.
During our trip we stayed at NH Hotels, of which the city has three. The undisputed showstopper is the hotel near Roma Termini railway station. This five-star hotel opened in February 2016 and is centrally located. The other NH hotels (4 and 4.5 stars) are ideal as conference locations. They have several smaller rooms that can be booked separately or transformed into one large conference area. NH Hotels incorporates the latest technology into their concept. For the next five years they hold exclusive rights to 3D holographic projection technology. This technology makes it possible to project products or people into a room and enlarge the 3D image. With this new technology, the future is closer than we think.
Before our flight home we stopped by the Alitalia Lounge at Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport. This lounge is fully equipped with every imaginable convenience: priority check-in, extensive catering options, Wi-Fi and numerous international newspapers, including the Dutch Telegraaf. Business class travellers can get to the gate quickly using a separate entrance in the departure hall.
